Deciding what I want to spend 20% of my time learning this semester is a tough decision. There are so many things that I want to learn how to do and so many things that I want to learn more about. I consider myself a life long learning and I believe that learning continues outside of the classroom. That is why I love learning strange and random facts as well and acquiring new skills whenever possible. I have finally decided on two option to focus on in my 20% Project: learn to play my favorite Tom Petty song ("Yer So Bad") or learn to make the perfect doughnut. I have grown up with Tom Petty's music and I consider Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to be members of my family. No matter what mood I am in or how my day turned out, I can always find a Tom Petty song that matches what I am feeling. Playing guitar has always been on my bucket list. I have played piano since I was 6 years old and find music to be a very important part of my life. I want to broaden my musical abilities to playing guitar, and what better way to start than with my good friend Tom!
These are some questions that I will be investigating if I pursue my life long dream to be a Heatbreaker:
Cooking in another very important part of my life, mainly because I LOVE TO EAT. I will eat pretty much anything that is in front of me, as long as it's not too spicy. But I have even started to like spicy foods more and more! Doughnuts have always been a challenge to make from scratch. My dad makes some killer beignets (really a fancy word for doughnut), but they come from a box mix. How do I even begin to describe my love of doughnuts? I truly "doughnut" know ;) In college, my friends and I would make late night trips to a local doughnut shop to wait in line for hours just to get freshly baked blueberry doughnuts. So why not learn to make them at home? Learning how to make delicious doughnuts would cut down on my doughnut line wait time and potentially save me some money! Here are some questions that I will explore as I bake (and eat) my way to the perfect doughnut:
I need your help in deciding how I should spend 20% of my time! I patiently await your feedback!

OMG the donut pun! Stop it right now. Ha! I'm going to cast yet another totally selfish vote and go for...donuts!!! I would also like to nominate myself as the official taste tester. Guitar would be great and I totally support your artistic endeavors, but donuts are basically the best thing ever. Sure, you could play guitar for your class and impress them, but you could ALSO bring them fresh homemade donuts and totally KNOCK THEIR SOCKS OFF! I think homemade donuts would give you way more street cred. Good stuff!

I think my comment will actually work this time! First off, your post was hilarious. I am excited to read and follow whatever you choose because reading this was so awesome. I have a feeling that you are leaning hard on the Tom Petty guitar option since your blog page is totally decked out haha. Feel free to add a Taylor Swift song to your project ;) Obviously doughnuts would be my vote because of purely selfish reasons. I do think cronuts will solve global warming so obviously you need to get going and start baking!! I support any decision you make but just know that the future of the world is in your hands.
