I'm going to be a Heartbreaker!
Although I got many votes for doughnuts, I feel like those votes were driven by selfish motives and I am going to go with perusing my dream of becoming best friends with Tom Petty and joining his band! Let's be honest, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers have been around for a while, and might not be around much longer if you know what I mean. So I have to jump on the chance when I can to fulfill a life long dream! But in reality, I'm just going to learn how to play "Yer So Bad" on guitar. I am also excited to try out the app Yousician, and this would be the perfect opportunity to see how it works. I am interested to see how I learn guitar using these new methods, especially because my only other experiences learning how to play an instrument was in a more traditional student-teacher environment.
For those of you interested in eating homemade doughnuts, do not fear! When I am stressed, I tend to bake (mainly so I can stress-eat, but the act of baking is relaxing for me too). With edTPAs coming up and just dealing with life in general, I foresee a lot of baking happening in the future, which is good news for you doughnut lovers! So if you keep following this blog to learn more about my journey of spending 20% of my time learning to play guitar, you just might hear about details on when and where you can get freshly baked goods!

Deciding what I want to spend 20% of my time learning this semester is a tough decision. There are so many things that I want to learn how to do and so many things that I want to learn more about. I consider myself a life long learning and I believe that learning continues outside of the classroom. That is why I love learning strange and random facts as well and acquiring new skills whenever possible. I have finally decided on two option to focus on in my 20% Project: learn to play my favorite Tom Petty song ("Yer So Bad") or learn to make the perfect doughnut. I have grown up with Tom Petty's music and I consider Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers to be members of my family. No matter what mood I am in or how my day turned out, I can always find a Tom Petty song that matches what I am feeling. Playing guitar has always been on my bucket list. I have played piano since I was 6 years old and find music to be a very important part of my life. I want to broaden my musical abilities to playing guitar, and what better way to start than with my good friend Tom!
These are some questions that I will be investigating if I pursue my life long dream to be a Heatbreaker:
Cooking in another very important part of my life, mainly because I LOVE TO EAT. I will eat pretty much anything that is in front of me, as long as it's not too spicy. But I have even started to like spicy foods more and more! Doughnuts have always been a challenge to make from scratch. My dad makes some killer beignets (really a fancy word for doughnut), but they come from a box mix. How do I even begin to describe my love of doughnuts? I truly "doughnut" know ;) In college, my friends and I would make late night trips to a local doughnut shop to wait in line for hours just to get freshly baked blueberry doughnuts. So why not learn to make them at home? Learning how to make delicious doughnuts would cut down on my doughnut line wait time and potentially save me some money! Here are some questions that I will explore as I bake (and eat) my way to the perfect doughnut:
I need your help in deciding how I should spend 20% of my time! I patiently await your feedback! |
During my time at CSUSM, we participated in a 20% project. This blog chronicles my 20% journey!
